Are you wanting to experience luxury all the way during your next Bali stay? We have got the scoop for you on Bali’s latest luxury villas – and this one is all about bringing the best of Bali to Ungasan Area! Umana Resort is the latest property from the Hilton group to open its doors on the island, quickly becoming one of our favourite places to stay in the Uluwatu area.

Villa with private pool and ocean view at Umana Resort

With popular Melasti Beach at its doorstep, you’ll experience ocean views from all corners. The dazzling property has 1,2 and 3-bedroom villas which stretch across the lush seaside resort, each with a large private pool and heated jacuzzi. Picture this, an afternoon spent dipping in the pool and lazing on a sun lounger in your own private courtyard, overlooking one of Bali’s best beaches. Or imagine chilling in the hot tub by moonlight after a long day of sight-seeing? With a heated jacuzzi in your villa, you can stay in the water all day and night – and we’re telling you, it’s absolute bliss!

Our villa, like all of the villas at Umana, was large, luxurious and lush. The bedroom opens right up to the swimming pool, allowing you to be in the pool approximately 5 seconds after you wake-up in the morning. Not to mention the invigorating feeling of waking-up to Indian Ocean views, it truly sets you up for a heavenly day in Bali. After your morning swim, you can get ready for your day in the generous ensuite which is modern, marble and magnificent, complete with double basins and a huge free-standing tub that feels like an indoor swimming pool!

The Umana is serious about showcasing the best of Bali, and we experienced this first-hand as we were treated to a walk through a neighbouring Balinese village. Up bright and early for our 7am start, we set-off on a walking tour and visited three temples, a local market and a traditional Balinese compound with a guide from the hotel to assist us. Even as seasoned Bali travellers, we loved getting a glimpse into the fascinating home and ritualistic life of the Balinese. It was also a nice way to get our steps-in for the day, so later on we could enjoy lazing around the pool back at our villa, guilt free.

Although the private pool and jacuzzi are super lush, we couldn’t resist making our way down to our favourite Bali beach, Melasti Beach which is just 70 metres below the hotel. At Melasti Beach you get the best of both worlds, from high-end beach clubs, to sunbeds and warungs, where you can grab a local and cheerful nasi goreng and fresh young coconut.

An afternoon massage always compliments a day at the beach perfectly, so we visited the Lohma Day Spa and were treated to the Lohma massage. This unique therapeutic massage uses crystals that are matched to your own personal aura, chosen for you after filling-out a questionnaire. We left the spa with our chakras feeling much more aligned than before our arrival at Umana, relaxed and ready for a delightful evening of dining.

Umana’s Oliverra Restaurant is a stunning Mediterranean-themed restaurant overlooking Melasti Beach. The restaurant has European-themed design elements, like sculptures inspired by the Greek Isles and a bar area which gives-off some serious Morocco vibes. We highly recommend reserving a table for sunset because the views from the decks reach far over the Indian Ocean, becoming extra dreamy as the sun goes down.

We loved the Oliverra Signature Spritz, a pretty and delicious drink, ideal for a sunset tipple. After sundowners, we settled-in for the chef’s tasting menu which was full of decadent dishes such as steak and scallops. There is even a giant human sized pepper mill which you need to see to believe! We would have to rate the food, wine and views an easy 10 out of 10!

Speaking of wine, the folks at Umana know a thing or two about it. In fact, each villa has a mini cellar, and there is also a giant wine cellar in the lobby area. The restaurants are well-stocked with wines from across Europe and beyond, so you can delight in an authentic Mediterranean dining experience. Even if you are not a guest at Umana, we recommend a visit to Oliverra restaurant if you are lover of European-style alfresco dining.

Umana’s slightly more laid-back eatery is Commune, where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served. There are both buffet and á-la-carte options. Let’s just say they had us at eggs, with their signature breakfast – lobster and caviar! The lunch menu is full of Asian specialities with plenty of flavour, as well as scrumptious dishes straight from the grill.

Although we were flying kid-free this time around, we were impressed by the Kid’s Club facilities which feature a large, air-conditioned indoor playground with slides and a fun ball pit. Children would be easily entertained for hours, having a blast with the energetic Kid’s Club staff and enjoying the jam-packed schedule of activities.

We also need to mention the curators that were there to assist us, providing everything from logistics to recommendations during our stay. They became our driver, concierge, butler and buddy, guiding us around the resort, helping to coordinate our schedule and answering any questions we had. Umana Bali is a property of LXR Hotels and Resorts, part of the Hilton Group. This resort has certainly captured a piece of our hearts and we cannot wait to come back for a special luxury staycay in the future!
