Taxis are a quick and convenient way to get transport. On any of the main streets you will see taxis trawling along and beeping their horns looking for customers. There are quite a few different taxi companies and there are varied opinions on each company. Our best tips for catching a taxi are below:
- Before getting into the taxi ask if they use their metre (you should always use the metre for the best price). If they say no or try to negotiate politely say “no thank you” and wait for the next taxi to come along.
- Be sure the driver starts the metre when you get in.
- If you know where you want to go, this can help from being taken “the long way”. Simply use google maps to give you a rough indication.
- Keep your small money for your taxi rides. The drivers often tell you they have no small change, if you have small money yourself it’s helps prevent an argument over change for your fare.
