Tegenungan Waterfall

Photographers’ Favorite Spot

Located only 10 kilometers south of Ubud, this waterfall is one of the few falls that’s not situated in the highlands or mountainous areas of Bali. It still boasts lush green jungle-like surroundings though and therefore it is a very popular spot for photographers, who often gather here in the late afternoon hoping to shoot this magical waterfall in the beautiful afternoon light. Due to its close proximity to Ubud, the waterfall is very popular and can get pretty busy at times. Therefore, we recommend you visit as early as possible and combine this trip with other sites in Ubud, such as Goa Gajah.

The water flow is quite heavy, resulting in clear and fresh water; ideal for a refreshing swim after you descended the 126 steps from the parking area to the waterfall. Halfway down this trail, you’ll have the option to go left to the waterfall or to follow the path to the right to a nearby temple. Ultimately both paths will merge again, so it doesn’t really matter which one you follow; unless you’re dying for a swim in which case you ought to take the left turn. Don’t be afraid to swim at Tegenungan Waterfall because most of the area is not deep. Just do not cross the prohibition limit and do not swim during rainfall season if you’re not confident in the water.

The tourist location of Tegenungan Waterfall, Gianyar Bali, is very suitable for both adults and children to explore.
