Syrco BASÈ launches COLLECTION I, a series of collaborative local and international events

Syrco BASÈ launches COLLECTION I, a series of collaborative events featuring local and international culinary talents, showcasing innovative dishes and sustainable cocktails paired with indigenously-inspired ingredients.

Local Heroes at Syrco Base

Just two months after its official opening, innovative culinary destination Syrco BASÈ is emphasising the importance of respectful partnerships with local suppliers and communities through an inaugural collaboration project.

Led by two Michelin-starred Chef Syrco Bakker, Syrco BASÈ in Ubud has recently unveiled COLLECTION I – a groundbreaking series of local and international collaborative events, happening across the culinary hub’s diverse dining spaces.

Potato Head signature drink by Syrco Base

Commencing on the 26th March 2024, the Syrco BASÈ Bar team welcomed Bali’s vibrant beach club, Potato Head, for an evening devoted to Indonesia’s mixology scene and hospitality industry heroes. Set amongst the backdrop of emerald rice fields, this exclusive event catered to 20 guests at the venue’s central bar and live kitchen area.

Potato Head’s talented bartenders showcased their imaginative approach to sustainable cocktails, paired with Syrco BASÈ’s indigenously-inspired ingredients, mostly sourced from the restaurant’s own gardens. Potato Head brought its signature musical talents to light up the event, while guests savoured Syrco BASÈ Bar’s mouthwatering bites paired alongside a cocktail tasting selection.

Nick Bril at Syrco Base

The next instalment continues on the 4th April, where fellow two Michelin-starred Chef, Nick Bril from The Jane in Antwerp, Belgium, will be joining Syrco Bakker. The Jane is “a designer-inspired culinary temple” appearing on the 2023 World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.

The two chefs will visit a local permaculture gardener and wild food forager to seek inspiration, before delighting up to 12 guests with an immersive culinary journey, complete with drinks pairing at Syrco BASE Ku. Later on, Chef Nick will demonstrate both his culinary and musical prowess at Syrco BASÈ Bar. Known also for his reputation as a skilled DJ, Chef Nick regularly performs up to 50 sets at major festivals in Belgium and internationally each year.

Moving on to the next collaboration on the 17th April, four of Bali’s most esteemed mixologists will join together for a Local Heroes event – celebrating Bali’s cocktail culture, as well as introducing native ingredients and time-honoured fermentation techniques.

Diners will experience artisanal creations from the award-winning bartender Panji Wisrawan from Apéritif, master of indigenous flavours Billy Wirawan from Mozaic, the show-stopping Esy Triana from Night Rooster, and Syrco BASÈ’s very own Bar Supervisor, Arya Dharmayasa.

Stay Gold Flamingo at Syrco Base Ubud

Concluding COLLECTION I will be a collaboration event on the 28th May with the creative team behind Singapore’s Stay Gold Flamingo, which debuted at no. 32 on the 2023 Asia’s 50 Best Bars list. Founder & Creative Director Jerrold Khoo will grace Syrco BASÈ with his Japanese and American styles of bartending. Meanwhile, Head Chef Joanne Sakai will flaunt her Filipino heritage with bold flavours to offer surprising and delicious masterpieces.

Chef Syrco believes that investing in collaboration opportunities is all about forging and strengthening bonds amongst the hospitality community. As the groundbreaking culinary hub celebrates the rich tapestry of ingredients, traditions and innovations while nurturing the skills of fellow artisans, let’s join them in supporting this empowering and tantalising initiative!
