In the idyllic village of Nungnung, 900 meters above sea level, you’ll find the magnificent Nungnung waterfall. The drive into the mountains is truly enchanting, with plantations and lush green rice paddies everywhere you look.
There are clear signs pointing you in the right direction toward the waterfall, so it’s not hard to find the parking area. Descending to the waterfall though is a whole different story; you have to climb down no less than 509 stairs. Lucky for you there are plenty of gazebos along the trail where you can catch your breath, take in fresh air and listen to the sound of water rumbling down into the pool – this waterfall is one of the noisiest of Bali.
When you finally reach the bottom of the gorge, cross the small bridge and come eye to eye with this gorgeous green waterfall you’ll instantly forget the effort it took you to get there. Until you get ready to return to your car…
