Located in the unspoiled village of Tamblang, just 45 minutes east of Singaraja, you will find one of the most interesting waterfalls Bali has to offer; the Carat Waterfalls. Getting there is quite tricky and challenging, because the 800 meters long descent takes you across a wobbly bamboo bridge and leads you down some steep cliffs, through local villages and coffee plantations, via a dirt trail.
The Carat Waterfall consists of two waterfalls on top of each other, one taller than the other. Looking at it from a short distance you’ll notice the waterfalls have the shape of a water jug or kettle, hence the name Carat (ceret means faucet or water kettle in local language).
What makes this waterfall truly interesting is that locals believe it to be a haunted place. They say bad luck comes to those who talk negative things about this place and to those who pollute the beautiful area around the waterfall. So be polite, keep the site clean and think only happy thoughts when visiting the Carat Waterfalls and you’ll be perfectly fine!
