7 delicious reasons to check out Naughty Nuri’s Seminyak

Like the original Ubud outlet, Naughty Nuri’s Seminyak is fast becoming a culinary icon of its neighbourhood.

Famous for its strong cocktails, meat-centric menu, and fun vibes, Nuri’s is always buzzing. If you haven’t been yet, you should. Here’s why:

1 – Yup, those killer ribs

Marinated in Balinese spices, grilled over charcoal, and smothered in barbecue sauce, Nuri’s pork ribs are the things of legend. We recommend rolling your sleeves up and tucking in cave-man style. Utterly delicious, but probably not ideal for first dates.

2 – Triple strength-martinis

Second only to its ribs, Nuri’s famous martinis are guaranteed to get the good times flowing. Spiked with 110 mls of vodka or gin, it’s no wonder Anthony Bourdain claimed they were the best martinis outside of New York. The story goes that nobody has ever managed more than five (and managed to walk out).

3 – There’s a pork speciality for every day of the week

Love pork? You’re in the right place. Nuri’s menu lists various different iterations of porky goodness. There’s the belt-busting rib burger, the herb-spiked porky soup (a take on Indonesian sup balung), and the nasi goreng iga (Balinese fried rice with pickles and crispy pork chunks) for starters. Or, if the mood for Mexican strikes, there’s the pork quesadillas. With juicy pulled pork, melted cheese, and pineapple salsa, the kids will love this one!

4 – It’s great for sharing

Sharing is caring, and Nuri’s caters brilliantly to groups of food lovers. Nuri’s giant strawberry daiquiris (rum, fresh strawberries, lime, ice) are served in huge novelty martini glasses and designed for four to share.

There are plenty of snacky plates to graze on, too. Our pick is the nachos, topped with jalapenos, pineapple salsa, melted cheese and pulled pork. For dessert, try Nuri’s Giant Sweetness, a knicker-bocker-Sunday-esque tower of chocolate brownies, ice cream, banana chips, espresso sauce, and strawberries.

5 – You get a free “Shake Shake” dance with every cocktail

The bum-waggling, cocktail-shaker flailing “Shake Shake” dance takes bar theatre to a whole new level. Performed with every order of a Nuri’s martini.

6 – Vacuum-packed goodies are available to take home

Get your Nuri’s fix at home with their vacuum-packed ayam bakar (roast chicken), pork rendang, and rib racks, among others. Or, you could have your favourite Nuri’s dishes delivered to your door!

7 – Yes, vegetarians are catered for, too

While Nuri’s focus is definitely meat, there are non-meat options too. Salads include an oriental tofu creation with beansprouts and Asian leaves. And small plates include the more-ish truffle fries, barbecued corn, and Indonesian cap cay (mixed vegetables).

If you eat fish, try the herb-marinated butterfish or the crispy fish wings.
