Marriott Properties in Bali get local with #ByBaliForBali

If these past two years in Bali has taught us anything, it’s that we are indeed stronger together. The best way for Bali to rebuild is by supporting each other, and Marriott International in Indonesia is taking action with the initiation of its #ByBaliForBali campaign.

If these past two years in Bali has taught us anything, it’s that we are indeed stronger together. The best way for Bali to rebuild is by supporting each other, and Marriott International in Indonesia is taking action with the initiation of its #ByBaliForBali campaign.

Last week saw the launch of #ByBaliForBali take place at St Regis Resort in Nusa Dua. The inaugural dinner marked the commencement of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bank of Indonesia. The MoU commits to all Marriott properties in Bali using at least 50% local produce and products in their resorts by 2025. Marriott International in Indonesia have partnered with two leading food supply chain companies to reach this goal.

#ByBaliForBali has been inspired by the global movement towards sustainability. By embracing produce from close to home, this campaign will shine a spotlight not only on the abundant locally available agricultural and seafood products, but also on local Artisan products such as Arak Bali and Balinese Batik.

“With the ethos of sourcing more produce locally and paying homage to preserving Mother Nature, sustainability clearly goes hand in hand with reducing our carbon footprint and elevating the beloved island’s culinary heritage to the next level.” said Ramesh Jackson, Area Vice President – Indonesia, Marriott International.

The inaugural dinner, held at St Regis’ Boneka Resort, featured an array of Balinese cuisine created by Executive Chef Agung Gede. While focussing on locally sourced products, the menu showcased the breadth and intricacies of the Balinese cuisine.

#ByBaliForBali is certainly something for the Island to get excited about. For Marriott guests, it means you’ll experience more of Bali’s exceptional, local produce, and for Bali producers, this is a chance to showcase their produce and products to both a domestic and international audience.
