Marriott Business Council Bali partners with Bali Children Foundation for an EdTech initiative, bringing advanced technology to four schools in Songan Village. This transformative project aims to enhance learning experiences for elementary students, showcasing Marriott International’s commitment to community empowerment through education.
Leading hospitality brand, Marriott International Indonesia, continues its commitment to community empowerment through a launch of a transformative educational initiative in Songan Village, collaborating with Bali Children’s Foundation – an education-focused non-profit organisation.
Through Marriott Business Council Bali and Bali Children Foundation (BCF), Marriott International Indonesia has introduced advanced Education Technology (EdTech) solutions into four schools in Songan Village. The goal is to facilitate personalised learning experiences for elementary students in this remote area.
On the 12th and 14th December 2023, the EdTech Project team visited Sekolah Dasar Negeri 2, 5, 6, and 8 in Songan Village for assessments and to celebrate this significant milestone. Additionally, Marriott International’s Bali hotels also organised fun games, quizzes, educational sessions and school lunches for the students.
The collaboration between Marriott Business Council Bali and BCF began in 2017, initially focusing on refurbishing schools in Songan Village, supported by Marriott International’s ‘Run to Give’ charity fund. The collaboration also includes providing scholarship awards to BCF’s students, benefiting over 3,000 students in less accessible areas.
This year, the EdTech Project was launched to improve literacy and numeracy skills for early elementary students. Using interactive applications like ‘Belajar Membaca,’ ‘Belajar Menghitung,’ ‘1st 2nd Maths’ and ‘Sekolah Enuma’, the initiative has successfully boosted 93% of pupils to now having basic competency skills.
Situated in the Mount Batur caldera in Kintamani, Bali, Songan Village faces challenges in accessing quality education. The EdTech Project aims to overcome these hurdles, using technology to enhance the learning experience for Songan Village students. Aligned with Marriott’s Serve360 commitment, specifically under Nurture Our World, this initiative showcases Marriott International’s dedication to supporting local communities.
As a founding charity partner for Marriott Business Council Bali, BCF shares a commitment to community empowerment through education. By integrating technology into the educational landscape, the collaboration project envisions a future where every child in the village has access to quality education, unlocking doors to a brighter future.
