Don’t miss out on this unique journey to the golden era of the Majapahit Kingdom, running from the 3rd April to the 31st May 2024.

Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Lontar Exhibition is the very first presentation of ancient manuscripts preserved by Samsara Living Museum. Premiered at the Pendopo Lobby of the Nusa Dua resort on the 3rd April 2024, this unique exhibition notably showcases manuscripts by the direct ancestors of Mpu Tantular – a prominent scholar and advisor to King Hayam Wuruk during the Majapahit era in the 14th century.

The exhibition highlights an ancient Lontar named Kakawin Sutasoma (Mpu Tantular, 1365-1389), which introduced the phrase ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika’, the national motto of Indonesia.

Other featured manuscripts revolve around human existence and its intricacies, including social dynamics, interpersonal relationships, spirituality and the human relationship with the natural world. The centuries-old manuscripts have always provided timeless wisdom. Ida Pedanda Ketut Buruan and Ida Pedanda Gede Made Buruan represent the 13th and 16th generations of Mpu Tantular’s direct descendants, showing true dedication to preserving the literary heritage for generations to come.
