We were fortunate enough to experience one of Bali’s premier 5-star destinations earlier this year. The complex is called The Edge – and we’re sure you can see why from the gallery!
Nestled in Bali’s most southern point The Edge forms part of the glitzy “Hollywood Strip” which is also home to big-name resorts such as Bulgari, Allia, Semara and Karma Kandara.
At the time of writing, The Edge was made up of 5 stunning private villas ranging from 1 – 5 bedrooms. Each villa is exquisitely decorated and the architecture and design of how they all fit together is amazing! Every room and living room in the entire complex has a jaw dropping view of the Indian Ocean.
The luxury and 5 star treatment starts before you even arrive at The Edge with an email sent before arrival from your personal butler asking your preferences for everything from food to pillows. You are also asked of anything you’d like prearranged for your stay to make sure your time at The Edge is as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. We loved that we could even request to have running shoes waiting for us in our size in the villa if we wished to use the gym or have a personal training session.
We were transferred to The Edge escorted by our butler in a luxury vehicle. Upon arrival we were greeted and given a thoughtful welcome gift each. We stayed in the 2 bedroom villa – The Cliff. The villa’s size was overwhelming and the view was picture perfect. Our first afternoon was spent enjoying our high tea down by the shared pool area and indulging in some of the signature cocktails. All the while our butler was close by for anything we needed.
We decided to have our dinner in our villa. The high tea was nothing short of amazing and also gluten-free as one of our guests was coeliac. We were certainly keen to try some more of the chef’s creations. Dinner did not disappoint – we ate a mixture of seafood and chicken and every bite left us wanting more. All ingredients are sourced locally where possible and are as fresh as they come. If there is something you’d like that needs to be imported – no problem either!
What a treat when we headed to bed for the night to not only have it turned down but also find another little thoughtful gift with a note left there as well. The little touches like this certainly made our stay at The Edge all the more memorable and something that went beyond 5-star luxury.
The next morning upon waking we found a breakfast fit for royalty laid out in our dining area. The water was shimmering and we were excited for another day in paradise!
The luxury continued in The Spa. This day spa deserves a blog all of it’s own but we will try and explain how amazing it was in a short paragraph…
The spa was also not forgotten when it comes to enjoying the amazing view. With a full glass wall it was ocean for as far as the eye could see from the treatment tables. The main area of the spa where you receive your massage treatments has a floor that is a few inches deep in water. This concept may sound strange at first but as soon as we laid down and the massage began it all became clear. To hear the swishing of the water as the therapist moved around the table throughout the massage made us float away to another world (don’t worry about the therapists’ feet getting waterlogged – they have that covered too with cute little gumboots!).
We enjoyed a two hour treatment with a full body massage and a full body coffee scrub and wrap. The entire experience was blissful and we really didn’t want it end. Another perk of the spa is it will only be booked for you and/or your guests at any one time, so you are guaranteed to have the entire spa to yourselves.
Later that day once we floated back to Earth after our treatments we had our butler arrange a booking at El Kabron – a cliff top Beach Club that is close by to The Edge. Here we enjoyed yet another spectacular sunset and meal and an escorted transfer to and from the venue with our butler.
Back at the villa, later that night our night shift butler made us some herbal tea before bed and we have again treated a very thoughtful gift in our beds. Talk about feeling like royalty and being spoilt!
The next morning we were keen to soak up the last few hours of what we had left at The Edge. We enjoyed another delightful breakfast, a quick dip in our villa pool and then we took the chance to have a look around at the other villas and the exciting extensions that are currently happening here.
The other villas are all just as breathtaking as each other. The 5 bedroom villa is certainly the star with it’s own private cinema, cigar room, two pools and the best and highest view of all of the villas. The Edge is a very popular wedding venue in Bali and the 5 bedroom villa is used for the reception for most weddings. We got to see two wedding take place while we were there and lets just say it was enough for us to want to redo our own weddings. Something to get really excited about are the extensions that are nearing completion at this complex. Not only will the extensions see 4 more villas added to The Edge, it will also see a cinema, kids’ club, bowling alley and the much anticipated Beach Club become part of the complex.
The Beach Club is set to quickly become one of Bali’s hottest hangouts and will also give visitors a chance to experience the luxury of The Edge as a day visitor. The Beach Club will include a cliff-side infinity pool and even a revolving restaurant so that all diners get the best seat in the house.
Our time at The Edge was coming to an end, and as we were getting into the luxury car to be transferred back we given a departure gift to remember our time spent here (like our wonderful memories weren’t enough already!).
