Karma Beach’s exceptional lifeguard, I Kadek Arya Wiarta, recently participated in training with Australian surf lifesavers in Perth, Western Australia. This groundbreaking initiative followed Arya’s victory in the 13km male division of the annual Row for R.O.L.E canoe race that took place on the 6th May 2023, where he beat over 140 international and local participants.

Impressed by Arya’s performance, Karma Group Chairman John Spence arranged for Arya’s visit to Perth from the 18th – 28th March 2024. As the first Indonesian from Karma to do so, Arya engaged in an intensive 10-day lifesaving training course at Cottesloe Surf Club. He dedicated 8-hours daily to building essential skills that helped him earn an Australian SLSA Bronze Medallion, a globally recognised accreditation for volunteer lifesavers.

Experienced trainer Deborah Dean led the lifesaving training, supported by two additional experts. During this exciting program, Arya also had the unique opportunity to meet Australian Olympic gold medallist Michael Klim, who wished him good luck and shared his insights on Australia and lifeguard training.
