Our 8am meeting point was at Serangan Harbour, which is located just south of Sanur. Although there is the option for a private pick-up and drop-off service, we decided to make our own way there and stocked-up on a few snacks and goodies at the market before meeting our English-speaking guide and crew. As we boarded our private fast-boat, we were welcomed with smiles and cold towels before getting our all-important safety briefing. Once that was all done, we set-off towards the island of Nusa Penida for our first snorkelling location of the day.

The sun was shining and the waves were calm as we made our way across the sea. The boat was kitted-out with everything you’d need for an awesome day out, including a Bluetooth speaker and on-board toilet. The boat we were on could hold up to 15 guests, so there was plenty of seating for the 12 of us. The crew had provided a cool-box full of water and soft drinks to keep us hydrated, as well as fresh fruit. There’s also the option to bring your own alcohol and snacks on board, which we took full advantage of!

After an easy breezy 30-min crossing, we arrived at our first snorkelling destination just off the coast of the Nusa Lembongan mangroves. Snorkels, masks and fins were all provided, as well as life jackets for those that may need it. The guide accompanied us as we jumped into the crystal-clear waters, pointing out the vast array of colourful coral and marine life. We were even lucky enough to spot a couple of turtles! It’s worth noting that the boat company can also arrange GoPro and drone footage to capture all of those precious holiday moments, so you can relive them back at home.

Back onboard it was time for snacks and a glass of chilled wine, whilst some of us took advantage of the beanbags on the front deck to top-up our tans. Then, it was off to the next destination nearby Nusa Penida Island for a drift-wall snorkel where we saw heaps of colourful fish, more turtles and even a small pod of dolphins at the front of the boat!

All that snorkelling had worked-up an appetite, and we were definitely ready for our lunch stop-off on Nusa Penida Island. At the harbour, our guide showed us to our air-conditioned cars (all already included in the package) as we made the short trip to a nearby beachside restaurant for lunch. There were heaps of options to choose from, including local and Western dishes with a drink also included. We all left feeling full, satisfied and ready for the next part of our adventure!

One of the many things that we loved about this day-trip experience was that you are given total flexibility with the day’s itinerary. Although the package includes 4 snorkelling spots, you have the flexibility to customise your day-out and make it exactly what you want! You can choose to take some time to explore Nusa Penida or snorkel with the numerous manta rays that are found off the south of the island. It’s your day, your way!

We were keen to check-out Lago, a floating pontoon bar that sits just off the Nusa Lembongan mainland. Here, you can relax on their floating bean-bags and enjoy a cocktail or some light bites from their menu. There are even kayaks to use and a raised platform to jump-off and cool-down in the refreshing waters. We loved the laid-back atmosphere and were more than happy to spend some time here enjoying a few drinks, before setting sail back to Bali.

After a swift 30-min boat ride, we arrived back at Serangan Harbour and bid a fond farewell to the amazing crew that had made our private boat trip so memorable. Slightly sun-kissed and full of salty smiles, we left knowing that this was a day out that we were definitely going to be repeating!
