Hard Rock Hotel Bali loves to give back to Bali’s own heroes with their Hero’s Program. The month saw the Hero’s Program hosting the team from Scholars of Sustenance Bali (SOS) for fun day at the resort to thank the SOS team for all they have done and continue to do for families in need in Bali.
The fun day was just that…purely for fun! Activities included Pillow Fights, Surfboard Paddle Races, Walk on Water and Beach Volleyball. The games proved to be great team building activities for the SOS team, while providing lots of laughs. The SOS heroes were also treated to a buffet lunch at Hard Rock Hotel Bali’s famous Splash Bistro, and there was even a lucky draw giveaway with Hard Rock merchandise and vouchers being given away.
General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Bali Shane Coates said “We have been one of the proud supporters of SOS Bali and wanted to treat Bo, Minni, and their team to a fun day together, away from their daily busy work schedules. At times, their tireless efforts in the community could be taken for granted, and we wanted to pay tribute to them and show our appreciation for what they are doing.”
SOS was founded in 2016 by Bo H. Holmgreen, it is a food redistribution charity. The charity collects unconsumed food from hotels and restaurants and re-prepares the food in a nutritious way to feed Bali’s most needy. SOS is also a great chance for the youth of Bali to be actively involved in fighting hunger and reducing food waste as they encourage all forms of volunteering to help in the collection, preparation, and distribution of the meals.
Just as the hospitality industry has been affected by the pandemic, so have organisations such as SOS. Between lockdowns and lack of tourists to the Island, SOS’s food donations have all but dried up. The work they do continues even while struggling for donations, this year they are approaching nearly one million nutritious meals that have been made and served to locals in need.
When asked about the Hero Program SOS Founder Bo H Holmgreen said that “We are very grateful for the recognition of our hard work to care for locals in need… Hard Rock Hotel Bali has been a great supporter of SOS and we thank them for organizing this event for our staff.”
