The authentic Chinese restaurant, Golden Lotus Chinese Restaurant is excited to have the culinary maestro back in the kitchen! Having previously graced Golden Lotus as a Chinese Chef, Mr. Teng Shen is more than ready to delight every palate again.
Coming all the way from Penang, Malaysia, Chef Teng has perfected his culinary skills throughout a remarkable career lasting over thirty years.
Growing up amidst the sights, sounds, and aromas of various types of food, particularly vibrant Chinese cuisine, Chef Teng learned the diverse flavours that signify cultural heritage through special events like festivals or simple family gatherings.
But it was his mother who passed down her culinary techniques and knowledge. From mastering the art of flavour balance to creating delicious and compelling dishes, the many hours spent in the kitchen sparked Chef Teng’s lifelong passion and set the foundation for his professional journey as a chef.
Starting from a small restaurant in Penang in 1982, Chef Teng learned how to balance flavours and make dishes that people would love. As his love for the kitchen grew, he moved among some of Asia’s most prestigious restaurants and 5-star hotels throughout his career. Finally, in 1997, he arrived in Bali and became a chef at the Bali Dynasty Resort.
Chef Teng showcases his mastery of Chinese cuisine through numerous awards and accolades. His innovative flair and meticulous cooking skills, developed over the years, have earned him a well-deserved reputation.
When it comes to Cantonese cuisine, Chef Teng stays true to the art of crafting authentic, delightful dishes. He views Cantonese cuisine as exciting for its rich history and influence from various cultures.
To provide guests with a memorable dining experience, he pours his energy and creative ideas into every dish. One of Chef Teng’s favorite creations is the Beef Saigon, which is always enjoyed by guests and receives excellent feedback!
And his mission at Golden Lotus is clear – to elevate the restaurant’s popularity through an extraordinary dining experience offering, with his Cantonese gastronomy specialty at the core.
