The famous Indonesian Chef, Chef Syamsul Rizal, is now ready to serve you his specialty in Japanese dishes at SugarSand at Hotel Indigo Seminyak. With his style in Japanese simplicity, and focuses on taste, he will absolutely astonishes you with his delightful dishes.
The Indonesian-raised Japanese Specialty Chef Syamsul Rizal joined Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, taking over SugarSand in January 2023.
Born in Cirebon, Java, Chef Rizal stepped up in the hospitality industry in Bogor and Jakarta, where he learned about basic kitchen operations. He then continued his career in international cruise liners, helmed hotel kitchens, and the world’s top restaurants in the US, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco.
With more than a decade of experience in the international culinary scene, Chef Rizal then advanced his career to Dubai’s famous Zuma and Miami’s contemporary Japanese restaurant, Nobu. Now it’s time for Chef Rizal to bring his Japanese cooking specialty to SugarSand at Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach.
Chef Rizal’s style lies in Japanese simplicity, with a focus on taste and presentation. He incorporates locally-sourced authentic Japanese ingredients to carefully craft every dish.
Undergoing a new direction with Chef Rizal, SugarSand’s menu is getting a makeover. At lunchtime, the beachfront eatery will serve new selections of small bites, soup, and salad. Meanwhile, the venue will take on a convivial Izakaya concept with Japanese food stalls in the evenings.
With the present of Chef Syamsul Rizal at Hotel Indigo Seminyak, He will show his very own signature dishes including fried ramen with seafood or beef, popcorn shrimp, gindara miso, and beef and black cod gyoza – and more culinary creations will be introduced throughout the start of the year.
