On 22 July 2023, Bar Vera welcomed chic patrons back to its popular program – the Guest Chef Series, which showcased Chef Dave Verheul’s culinary excellence in presenting small plates of wood-fired and fermented delicacies.
Hailing from the renowned restaurant in Melbourne, Embla, Chef Dave took over the kitchen for one day, collaborating with Head Chef Keir Ballantyne and his team at Bar Vera to create an incredible dining experience.
Verheul’s culinary journey includes success at renowned establishments like the Matterhorn in New Zealand, the opening of The Town Mouse in Melbourne in 2013, and the highly acclaimed Embla in 2015. In 2020, he launched Saison Aperitifs, specializing in high-end seasonal vermouth and amari, which was voted the best vermouth in Australia in 2021.
Firmly established as a leading chef and winemaker within the Australian culinary world, Verheul’s approach celebrates the integrity of produce with a distinctive style characterised by thoughtfulness, attention to detail, balance, and purity of flavour.
