Bali Island School (BIS) held its annual Career Day on 16 February 2023, with opening remarks from the Keynote Speaker Kevin Girard – highlighting the importance of skills development to help Generation Z students adapt to the present time career changes.

On Bali Island School Career Day, the event addresses students’ most fundamental question: “where do we go from here?” BIS hosted career panels with Q&A sessions for secondary students on its very own Career Day. The Sanur-based international school helped its Grade 6 to 12 students discover potential career options by inviting speakers from various industries including hospitality, medical, engineering, finance, law, and IT.
“Today, career changes occur frequently. BIS is aware of that and must emphasise the importance of skills acquisition next to content knowledge, which aligns perfectly with IB philosophy,” says Mike Miller, the Head of School.

The event featured enthusiastic panel sessions featuring high-caliber speakers, such as Tantowi Yahya (the former Ambassador of Indonesia to New Zealand), Dominic Bryant (Conservation Scientist), and DR. Ida Ayu Oka Purnamawati (Founder and Managing Director of Bali Royal Hospital).
Two consistent messages were delivered throughout the panel sessions: leave a legacy by developing people – as it is the key to a sustainable business in the ever-changing world – and be open-minded to learn new skills not to fit, but to adapt to future changes.
